The morning workshop

Let's Make a (Publishing) Deal: A game show approach to understanding how the publishing process works--from pitch to publication. Learn how to pick out the best selling points of your book and craft it into a winning pitch that will guide agents and editors in positioning your book for the marketplace. We'll practice techniques to best communicate your book to professionals--all of whom really want you to become their new bestselling author. Come prepared to think on your feet and play a role in the show. Public speaking experience is not needed, but clear thinking about your writing is vital. Come with a 250-word summary of your book. And a 150-word summary, too.

Whether or not you plan to pitch your work at an upcoming conference or via a query letter, perfecting a short, entertaining summary of your work-in-progress is always a good strategy. You never know when you might find yourself in an elevator with the agent of your dreams.
